"Lush New England style forests surround
beautiful Lake Ptarmigan."

Lake Ptarmigan
Lake Ptarmigan is a natually occuring body of water in the extreme south-west corner of the college campus. An unknown amount of the lake extends sound beyond the college's border which has attracted many adventure seekers over the years.

Nearby Friends
The college is pleased to host a military installation on the northern shore of Ptarmigan Lake. What they do there we don't know.

WARNING!
Lost Creek drains into the lake from the east forming a swampy area. All students are requested to avoid this area as it is quite mucky.

Myrtle Islet
In 1873 the small islet in the the northern part of the lake was inhabited by a hermit who planted a single myrtle tree. Today with half a dozen trees growning on the islet (none of which are myrtles) it is known as Myrtle Islet.

History
In the early 20th Century the Official College Architect's Residence was placed at a small rise overlooking the lake. A wonderful stone bridge was brought over from England and installed on the premises. Later the residence building itself was brought in via a barge. (see image)

Today collegiate
rowing teams
compete side by
side with modern
speedboats.
